"yeah, that time in the elevator was the first time I saw you."

I don't know who made that, but it makes me happy.
I am SO excited to see what happens in our country in the next four years.
(Although, if McCain was elected, that would have given me an even greater reason to move to France as soon as possible... hah. selfish much?) Oh well. France will always be there, and I feel pretty damn proud to be an American right now. And I always thought that sentiment was reserved for... well, Bush supporters (were there any left?).

Now, if California would please get their shit together...
I really don't understand this. Really.

That's all.

Hmm...
Not as weird as I thought, coming back home.
I thought I would be kicking and screaming the whole way, dying to stay in Europe for just a little bit longer... and then be confronted with massive culture shock, the-good-ole-U-S-of-A type shit.
But no, not really. It's comfortable. Familiar. Just what I need right now.
I think that week of traveling (almost) alone after my program ended was a nice end to the 9 weeks abroad. I realized I can get pretty lonely sometimes, especially when I'm in a foreign country and I just spent 2 months with tons of amazing people, non-stop...
So, being home is nice. Haven't really gotten to "sleep in" yet because my stupid body and its propensity to really bad jetlag won't let me sleep past 7:30. Fab.
Went out to the desert, got to ride my shiny red bike which is all I really care about sometimes.
Seeing all the people I want to see. Hopefully. Realizing all over again that it's hard to keep in touch when you've left it all behind... (sorry)
Saw an amazing show this evening. Tim Maurer, Brian Mashburn, other various talented musicians... all in the best cover band I think I've ever seen (Pop Britannica). I was grinning the entire time Tim had the mic in his hand. It was so great to see him perform again and do his thing on stage...

So. Driving to Seattle on Sunday. Back to the lab and finding another job and classes and goodshows! and goodfriends! and things like that.
How are you all doing on this fine... early morning at 2:30? (Maybe my jetlag really hasn't worn off yet)

Lots of love.

alright, for the first time in two months, i'm ready to come home.
good thing, too, because i'll be back stateside this saturday.

i've been in london for two days now and already i'm thinking
DONE, NEXT
how is that possible?

i would even be happy going back to montpellier with all the wonderful people i met and spend another month there.
je t'aime, la france.

getting back to real life is going to be a real drag.

i will always remember this summer as the one where i met a french boy and got my heart broken.
kind of cinematic, n'est-ce pas?
qu'il me manque...

Bonjour mes amis!

Soooo I'm leaving for France in a few days for two whole months. I don't know how much internet access I'll have since I'm not bringing my computer, and I really want to send out some postcards while I'm away. So if you want a fancy carte postale from yours truly, comment with your address (screened of course) and I'll send one to you. Maybe even two. :)

p.s. I'm sort of freaking out/more excited than I've ever been about anything.
Expect about a million pictures on my flickr when i get back.

!!!

This just made me so UNBELIEVABLY happy. I randomly stumbled upon it...

part deux )

I guess I forgot how much I miss Disneyland.
Is it weird that I always get a little teary-eyed at the Peter Pan part?

This is pretty much hell week for me, and then it's all over. I'm looking forward to lots of things...
-Seeing some movies, namely The Fall (HELLLOOOO LEE PACE) and Sex and the City
-Having my parents pay me a visit in Seattle next week
-Possibly taking up that rain check? if it exists?
-Generally bumming around in this amazing city and not worrying about school for a bit
-Random trip to Nashville for a few days. Just like old times...
-Coming home for a measly few days... Just long enough, actually, because then it's time for----
-Leaving for FRANCE on June 30th! Pour deux mois! Je dois pratiquer mon français... C'est un peu rouillé.

Bonne nuit...

hello, lj-world. sorry it's been so long.

seattle's becoming more and more my home, all of a sudden... i really do think it will be the kind of place i miss a lot if i end up leaving for good after graduation. so perhaps i will stay. hmm. i really do not want to be thinking that far ahead right now...

however! i am visiting sunny southern california this weekend! hooray! some close family friends are getting married and i'm really excited to spend some quality time with my "extended" family. love love love. also, open bar? yessss
so, friday will be nice. wake up, go to my one class, back at my house by 11:30ish, wait for hailey to pick me up, go to TROPHY! to get fabulous amazing CUPCAKES! (http://www.trophycupcakes.com/ ...hell yes), and then off to sea-tac to hang out and wait for my flight. is it weird to say i love that airport? i really do.

gotta love it. luckily it will be considerably nicer weather on friday...

...anyway, off the plane and straight to the rehearsal dinner. then wedding on saturday. lounging around on sunday and back to seattle in the evening. sounds like a great weekend.

it's around this time of year when i really don't like going to a school that is on the quarter-system. everybody's FB status is like 6 MORE DAYS, OMG I HATE FINALS, ALMOST SUMMER
and i'm like yeah whatever, i still have until mid-june.
oh well.
oh here's my own status---
OMG I'M GOING TO FRANCE FOR TWO MONTHS.
i can't wait for july. :)

i really don't want to admit which book i've been reading lately. guilty pleasure. the writing is kind of ridiculous... but i'm sucked in... or i guess you could say... dazzled? ;)
also, hooray for free audiobooks. didn't even have to buy the book. less guilty? hah.

ok i love you all bye.
