I don't know who made that, but it makes me happy.
I am SO excited to see what happens in our country in the next four years.
(Although, if McCain was elected, that would have given me an even greater reason to move to France as soon as possible... hah. selfish much?) Oh well. France will always be there, and I feel pretty damn proud to be an American right now. And I always thought that sentiment was reserved for... well, Bush supporters (were there any left?).

Now, if California would please get their shit together...
I really don't understand this. Really.

That's all.

Hmm...
Not as weird as I thought, coming back home.
I thought I would be kicking and screaming the whole way, dying to stay in Europe for just a little bit longer... and then be confronted with massive culture shock, the-good-ole-U-S-of-A type shit.
But no, not really. It's comfortable. Familiar. Just what I need right now.
I think that week of traveling (almost) alone after my program ended was a nice end to the 9 weeks abroad. I realized I can get pretty lonely sometimes, especially when I'm in a foreign country and I just spent 2 months with tons of amazing people, non-stop...
So, being home is nice. Haven't really gotten to "sleep in" yet because my stupid body and its propensity to really bad jetlag won't let me sleep past 7:30. Fab.
Went out to the desert, got to ride my shiny red bike which is all I really care about sometimes.
Seeing all the people I want to see. Hopefully. Realizing all over again that it's hard to keep in touch when you've left it all behind... (sorry)
Saw an amazing show this evening. Tim Maurer, Brian Mashburn, other various talented musicians... all in the best cover band I think I've ever seen (Pop Britannica). I was grinning the entire time Tim had the mic in his hand. It was so great to see him perform again and do his thing on stage...

So. Driving to Seattle on Sunday. Back to the lab and finding another job and classes and goodshows! and goodfriends! and things like that.
How are you all doing on this fine... early morning at 2:30? (Maybe my jetlag really hasn't worn off yet)

Lots of love.

alright, for the first time in two months, i'm ready to come home.
good thing, too, because i'll be back stateside this saturday.

i've been in london for two days now and already i'm thinking
DONE, NEXT
how is that possible?

i would even be happy going back to montpellier with all the wonderful people i met and spend another month there.
je t'aime, la france.

getting back to real life is going to be a real drag.

i will always remember this summer as the one where i met a french boy and got my heart broken.
kind of cinematic, n'est-ce pas?
qu'il me manque...

Bonjour mes amis!

Soooo I'm leaving for France in a few days for two whole months. I don't know how much internet access I'll have since I'm not bringing my computer, and I really want to send out some postcards while I'm away. So if you want a fancy carte postale from yours truly, comment with your address (screened of course) and I'll send one to you. Maybe even two. :)

p.s. I'm sort of freaking out/more excited than I've ever been about anything.
Expect about a million pictures on my flickr when i get back.

!!!

This just made me so UNBELIEVABLY happy. I randomly stumbled upon it...

part deux )

I guess I forgot how much I miss Disneyland.
Is it weird that I always get a little teary-eyed at the Peter Pan part?

This is pretty much hell week for me, and then it's all over. I'm looking forward to lots of things...
-Seeing some movies, namely The Fall (HELLLOOOO LEE PACE) and Sex and the City
-Having my parents pay me a visit in Seattle next week
-Possibly taking up that rain check? if it exists?
-Generally bumming around in this amazing city and not worrying about school for a bit
-Random trip to Nashville for a few days. Just like old times...
-Coming home for a measly few days... Just long enough, actually, because then it's time for----
-Leaving for FRANCE on June 30th! Pour deux mois! Je dois pratiquer mon français... C'est un peu rouillé.

Bonne nuit...

hello, lj-world. sorry it's been so long.

seattle's becoming more and more my home, all of a sudden... i really do think it will be the kind of place i miss a lot if i end up leaving for good after graduation. so perhaps i will stay. hmm. i really do not want to be thinking that far ahead right now...

however! i am visiting sunny southern california this weekend! hooray! some close family friends are getting married and i'm really excited to spend some quality time with my "extended" family. love love love. also, open bar? yessss
so, friday will be nice. wake up, go to my one class, back at my house by 11:30ish, wait for hailey to pick me up, go to TROPHY! to get fabulous amazing CUPCAKES! (http://www.trophycupcakes.com/ ...hell yes), and then off to sea-tac to hang out and wait for my flight. is it weird to say i love that airport? i really do.

Photobucket
gotta love it. luckily it will be considerably nicer weather on friday...

...anyway, off the plane and straight to the rehearsal dinner. then wedding on saturday. lounging around on sunday and back to seattle in the evening. sounds like a great weekend.

it's around this time of year when i really don't like going to a school that is on the quarter-system. everybody's FB status is like 6 MORE DAYS, OMG I HATE FINALS, ALMOST SUMMER
and i'm like yeah whatever, i still have until mid-june.
oh well.
oh here's my own status---
OMG I'M GOING TO FRANCE FOR TWO MONTHS.
i can't wait for july. :)

i really don't want to admit which book i've been reading lately. guilty pleasure. the writing is kind of ridiculous... but i'm sucked in... or i guess you could say... dazzled? ;)
also, hooray for free audiobooks. didn't even have to buy the book. less guilty? hah.

ok i love you all bye.

quite a strange feeling. i'm in my last hour and a half of being a "minor." it feels like christmas eve. :)

this is the last time i can rock out to this song with some feeling! hahah.

here's hoping tomorrow will be swell.
now, i just have to finish this paper... it's for extra credit so my usually tiny motivation is verging on non-existent...

I'M GOING TO MONTRÉAL IN A LITTLE OVER A WEEK, I'M INCREDIBLY EXCITED
and then home for a few days... actually i'll probably be in the desert for most of it... maybe i'll even splurge for a day at disneyland (it feels weird not to have a pass anymore!).

...so how is everyone on this fine evening?

i love this city )

spring is coming, i'm so happy. this city is absolutely gorgeous in the milder seasons.

i may or may not have found my soulmate on a personals website. HAHA. blame hailey, she got me looking...
just looking though. i'm kind of surprised at how disinterested and indifferent i am about any aspect of my love life right now. it's kind of nice to just relax and not worry about it. i've got other things to attend to, like this paper on radical feminism i have due tomorrow... hmph... the subject material is very interesting though. yay feminism. :)

my birthday: 22 days
montréal: 31 days
california: 35 days

on a (slightly vague) side note, i feel like i've reached a milestone in the last couple of months in terms of people i choose to call my friends. it's like a giant lightbulb came on in my head... and for the first time in the last several years, i'm okay with it. and i don't know why i ever wasn't okay with it.
:)

i think i'm going to call this week "an exercise in time management".

not starting now, of course. i have pleeeenty of time to dawdle and stay up late doing nothing... drinking tea and lurking around LJ while i should be preparing for my group debate in my honors class tomorrow....

oooh god. debates make me oh so nervous.

but this weekend i'm going to VICTORIA, CANADA!!!! OH HAPPY DAY I'M SO EXCITED.
yaaaay british-y things. maybe even some nice pubs i can legally go into.

alright alright i'm off to manage my time wisely... as in, sleep...

expect pictures of my weekend adventures in CANADAAA
until then

i got this email yesterday...

Congratulations! At the end of this quarter, you will have 15 or fewer
credits left to complete the minimum 180 required for graduation. And,
you will be a mere ten weeks away from earning your bachelor's degree!
Graduation can be a busy time, so planning for graduation now is
important...

OHGODOHGODOHGOD. i'm not graduating until next june, okay?? as if i needed to be even more stressed out about what i'm doing with my life. it's enough just to have the word "SENIOR" plastered across the top of my transcript. it's only my third yearrrrrr :(

i was looking at pictures with kellen today and i came across my little album of paris from summer '06. i really really miss that city. and all of the warm fuzzy feelings i had in that one particular week. with that one particular person. i know i can never go back to exactly that, and that's okay, i just like to reminisce... sigh...

why am i such a nostalgic person? )

if all goes as planned, i'll be back in france this summer for two whole months. eeeeeee

i've decided (at this point, anyway) that after i graduate i'm going to drive to chicago while listening to that one song by sufjan stevens... and live on elm street. and not worry about graduate school for an indefinite amount of time. and i'll work in some swanky establishment downtown and be content with my life.

or maybe i'll open a pie shop.
or move to western europe with kellen. he'll be in portugal with his farm and i'll be in france with my... pie shop. ma "tarterie", si vous voulez. et tous les week-ends nous nous rencontrerons, peut-être à Paris, peut-être à Londres... ce serai magnifique. et chacun de nous aura un très beau copain. :)

j'ai sommeil. et j'aime parler le français. bonne nuit...

OH OH, REGARDEZ-LE S.V.P.!!

bonjour, mon petit bureau de change...

a few things:

i cannot get enough of this song right now. aaaah.

cute boy in my icon = jim halpert 2.0. and i guess chuck can be the new pam, except she kinda annoys me sometimes. but anyway, pushing daisies is an adorable show and ned the piemaker has pushed jim halpert outta my number one spot. :D heeheee

SPEAKING OF office stuff, rainn wilson is coming to my school tomorrow!! i really hope i can at least get a spot in the 700-seat hall. eeeeek

oh and i also like the song "handle me" by robyn. haha where has she been all these years anyway? i remember she had some big song in the 90's....
(another youtube link for good measure.)

heyyy-o i'll be home in 19 days.

and the holiday season has officially started. YAAAY NOVEMBER and stuff.

wow i'm tired
